District Energy Women's Initiative

Our Mission

The District Energy Women’s Initiative (“DEWI”) is a group committed to providing opportunities for women in district energy to forge connections with one another.

This growing community aims to promote discussions among women in energy, furthering our collective understanding and sparking new ideas. DEWI also seeks to recognize and celebrate the significant, unique contributions that women have made, and continue to make, to the district energy industry.

Our Next Virtual Meet-Up

Understanding District Energy & Virtual Happy Hour
Recorded Thursday, May 16, 4:00pm EDT

Come join District Energy Women Initiative (DEWI) for our virtual happy hour where we will be having a non-technical panel discussion about what and how District Energy affects various institutions and organizations. We have an amazing group of women whom will be sharing their knowledge and experience with the audience and there will be time at the end for a Q&A session.

The event was led by Ruth Bennett of Tufts University along with the following women whom represent a wide sector of careers that are part of the District Energy industry.

Engineer - Elizabeth Nolder - RMF Engineering

History

DEWI began as an annual meet-up at our conferences, an informal gathering designed for the growing number of female attendees at IDEA conferences to connect with one another and discuss the success they are enjoying and the challenges they face in the industry.

Now, as the group continues to grow and more of its members take prominent roles in the industry, DEWI is setting its sights on developing year-round initiatives designed to empower those already established in the industry and inspire those who are just getting started.

Stay tuned as we lay the groundwork for the future of DEWI.
